95 civic ex 4dr fuel gauge inop
hello everyone,
my car has me lost. i put a new fuel gauge in the cluster and a new sending unit in the tank. the gauge just stays on full even after putting the new stuff in. im thinking that maybe the sending unit is case grounded? it has a yellow, white stripe wire and a black wire going to it. im thinking that maybe i should clean all around that? if anyone has anymore ideas or experiences with this, your help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks everyone!

Clean around what...?
Chances are high that you probably have a wiring problem or the sending unit is not getting power properly. I know it's not very helpful to say, but the factory service manual has really good troubleshooting instructions for this.

also when i unplug the connector to the sending unit the gauge stops moving but when i move the needle back down by hand and plug the unit back up, it continues to go back up above the full mark.
