92 prelude problems...Help

ok so i boought a prelude froma guy in richmond.....its a 1992 Honda Prelude, with a H22A4 swap.....car was missing like hell...i gave car a tune up(plugs and wires) and it ran fine....then it cuts off. wont start back up till it sits for a few min.and does same thing, and some times V-tec breaks up in second gear.so when it would not start i checked to see if fire was commin from coil...it was....a few min later it wasnt...i was told it was distributor was bad....so i took it off and apart, and tested the ignition control module...its good...im lost please help opinions are valued if u know what u are talkin about TY

Taking the distributor apart won't tell you anything, because you can't tell if a position sensor is bad just by looking at it.

I don't really think that you have a distributor problem though, because that wouldn't affect how long you have to wait before it starts again.

It's probably either the coil, or the main relay. Both pretty common issues with that car.

One of the position sensors could have been partially failed. If that's what happened, that's definitely not the normal failure behavior.
