Unhappy 92' civic hatch - fan wont come on!!!!

i am working on my friends '92 civic vx hatch with a ls swap. when he bought it the guy ran wires from the fan side of the harness and stuck a wire to the battery post (you had to pull it out whenever you were done driving), so i know the fan works, but when i pulled the wires off, and connected the fan harness again the fan wont come on. i replaced the "cooling fan relay" in the fuse box, along with the 15a fuse, and the 7a fuse in the fuse box, but still doesnt work. lastnight we replaced the temp switch that mounts to the thermostat housing.......no fan still!!! heeeeelp!

Default hmmm

Sounds like a faulty ground, you may need a wiring diagram and will probably need to follow the +12v and G wires to their source, and properly connect them.

That sounds good but if thats the case why not just run a ground straight to the fan and skip all the wiring diagram hunting and get to the problem quicker.

Also if that doesn't work check the switch you just replaced to see if the correct current is flowing through it. Maybe a wire got switched somewhere in the install or something.

Also make sure the engine is warm enough to need the fan. Alot of 4 bangers hardly turn the fans on at idle. I can leave my car at idle and the fan will never turn on. Rev it up for a bit or drive it around before hand.

Good luck

the temp gauge generally stays at about 1/2 way up

make sure that you have all of the engine grounds on!

that would do it!!

i had a problem with my buddies zex not working at night because the headlights were on. bad ground to the motor! fixed the bad engine ground and the zex worked fine with the headlights on!
