i have an 88 prelude si with a jdm b20a swap the spedo works fine but the rpm tach doesnt? i pulled the dash apart and the cable from the engine isnt spinning? i pulled the cable from the piece on the engine and that wasnt spinning either? any help would be great

the cable is just for your speedometer and odometer and has nothing to do with the tachometer. unless your driving down the road while looking at the cable under the hood then that cable isnt going to rotate.

have you or the previous owner installed any after market anything in the gauge cluster?
tach probably took a shit.
