Default '86 Mustang 3.8L to 5.0L?

A buddy of mine is picking up a 4 eyed freak with a 3.8L V-6 that needs a tranny. He plans to build a low budget bracket racer (for now until he finds a decent fairmont to swap everything over to), and is going to throw a 302 in it, and swap out the rear end for an 8.8". Question is, is the K-frame the same for the v-6 as a 4cyl and a 5.0L? Been getting various different answers from people, but i know there are a few fox body guys/girls on here who know there stuff.

also if any of you have anything laying around, or are trying to get rid of for cheap, let me know...thanks...

That's a less common swap than the 2.3 to 5.0 but i've always been told that the V6 cars used a different K-member

i know the 4 cyl k member is the exact same as the 5.0. the sway bar is just alittle smaller. i have never done the 6 cyl swap but im sure that would be the same also. if not and you need one just pm me, i got a bunch of stock ones laying around.

its the same K member, my 83 was originally a V6, and apprently had a 4 banger in it at some point too before I got it. Might need a set of long ear motor mounts or pedestals for you short ears.

Thumbing through a Ford mag. that I have it seems the 2.3. V6, and V8 all used the same K member. The SVO and inline 6 used k members unique to their applications
