350.. and an s10?
hey guys. Im getting an 85 s-10 for $300 pretty soon. I have an oldsmobile 350 sitting in my garage. Naturally I wanna drop that 350 in there. I found sites for kits to do the swap. But everywhere I have looked all the kits are for chevy 350's. The engine is out of a 69 delta 88. I was told that oldsmobile and chevy used different engines back in the day. Meaning different bolt patterns. Is this true? And what would I have to do, to get the olds 350 in there?

There is nothing in common between a Chevy 350 and a Olds 350. The motor mounts/headers/and starter are different as well as engine dimentions. You can't interchange any parts except a few cylinder head bolts. The only thing they share in common is a displacement of 350 cu in.
You can however put it in your s-10 if you really want, you'll just have to fab some custom engine mounts and mabye take out the inner fender wells. The Olds motor is about 4 inches wider than a Chevy motor.
You can also get a transmission adaptor plate for around $50 to bolt the Olds motor to a Chevy tranny.

the olds 350 is a bb witha 350 inch displacement where the chevy is a sb. assuming you are not going to be satisfied very long with that tired ass olds junk. you would want to do some performance work. you will be saving yourself a tremendous amount of money by buying a smallblock chevy motor now. if you are on a tight budget for this check summitracingequiptment.com they have s-10 small block conversion kits and even how to books. keep in mind that will likely need to get a transmission and driveshaft depending on what engine you have now. if the truck has a 4.3L v6 your trans will bolt up to the samll block. you will almost certainly need a rearend anyway. but i always have stuff for sale.
