I have a 2008 vw gti, and lately I noticed the turbo is louder and I have a lack of power. I've done a little research and (possibly) discovered that there is a loose hose somewhere. I'm not exactly mechanically inclined, but I looked around and didn't seem to find any hoses disconnected. Any other ideas or help?

And no modifications except air intake

Check your cat and make sure it is not clogged.

Also check to make sure your intake is connected properly.

Intake is secured on tight.
It feels like the car starts to boost at first, but then once the turbo begins to spool up it feels like it loses power almost

Check your Diverter valve, when the membrane on those rips your will sometimes get the symptoms your are having.

I just had these same symptoms.. and it turned out to be a clogged cat in the downpipe...

buy vagcom if you plan on keeping the car for any length of time, its a blessing.
