2003 dodge dakota dies but can immediately restart
I have a 2003 dodge dakota that immediately after starting the engine begins to dive down from its regular idling point to about 5-800 rpms. Then, the truck will just die out completely, I put it in park, and then restart it, and it works just fine. Any ideas?

Will do, it isn't every single time like you said it just worries me that it dies in the middle of intersections and the wheel locks sometimes.

Try cleaning the throttle body first.

To fabrik8 it is within a period of about 3 minutes after starting it up, and then you are correct, it is fine after I restart it, and I do not believe I ever said after it was running for a while, just if I am in a parking lot it will die in the middle of the road directly after driving out of the lot.
To Rocketeer, I will look more into that. |

The truck ended up just needing the throttle body cleaned. Thanks to Rocketeer for the tip, just bought a can of throttle body cleaner and used a toothbrush, ended up idling at more manageable rpm's too, (from 1200 give or take to 600). Would highly suggest crnchy would try it on his as well.
