2001 Jetta with Compression Problem

Hey i am looking at a 2001 Jetta that has had the engine rebuilt in order to fix a compression problem... the mechanic told me that one of the cylinders wasnt getting the proper compression, so they fixed it. Is this alright or is this something that means i will have problems down the road with?

i remember VW had a recall when they released the MK4's,
the rings were not seating in the 2L cars,
they were burning alot of oil its hit & miss

i sold my 03' 1.8t gti, i was denied warranty on the tranny by the regional rep. & the tech happened to be my neighbor, so yeah VW fucked me there
& i will never go back.... buy a honda ;)

yea if it was a daelership tech that told you he fixed it - you might want to get ready to bring that shit back to the shop because he did the bare minimum to get that shit running
