2000 Toyota Camry won't start

I drive a 2000 Camry with the 2.2L 4cyl engine. The starter died and I installed a new one. After everything was reconnected I went to start the engine. When I turned the key, the lights, the radio, basically everything electric turned on. When I turned the key to actually start the car everything died. No lights, no noise from the engine, nothing. Any suggestions or ideas as to what the problem is?

Check your terminals, check for loose connections at either the starter or battery. Make sure you have a good ground.

Why do you think the old starter was bad? Did it test bad, or did you replace it because it didn't seem to be working?

From what you just said, the problem was likely not the old starter. Sounds like a bad battery, bad cable connection or battery terminal clamp, or a bad ground connection, may be the starter relay too. This can all be diagnosed with a voltmeter very quickly.
