Default 2000 Civic IACV

What is it that go's bad in the iacv? Doesn't seem like there is much to it?? Could i just swap out the part that actually plugs into the connector?

It's a valve with a linear voice coil actuator attached to it, an input filter screen, air bypass passages, and a pulse width modulated signal that drives it. So it's conceptually pretty simple. But, it doesn't have any linear position feedback, so if anything gets corroded/stuck/gummed, etc. in that linear motion assembly then it won't work as designed (no position feedback means no position compensation). There's also the obvious problems of the screen or airflow passages getting gummed up or clogged.

You can swap out whatever you want, and it may or may not work better than what you have now.

If you have another IACV to use for replacement parts, why not just swap the entire unit over?

Get some carb cleaner or brake cleaner and a toothbrush. Go at it. That screen should brighten up in no time at all.
