200+ Non-VTEC

Does anyone think its possible to make 200+ all motor B18 non-vtec? This is one of the things i'm shooting for before I go the LS-VTEC route. It must stay all motor.

JKim 07-27-2003 01:48 PM

doubt it. staying 1.8 liter...i really doubt it.

they dont even make cams for non-vtecs i dont think.

BlueTegB18A 07-27-2003 02:06 PM

why? why not just go ls/vtec first?

tatmonster 07-27-2003 02:12 PM

yeah they do... I just got my crowers last month. 445 lift. 191 duration. For my LS swap. But im not shootin for 200, That would be nice though. It is possible if everything is planned thoroughly.:D

thats good lift...but kinda short duration for less overlap. are those FI cam profiles?

awsome btw.

It's possible, but pretty hard. The non Vtec cylinder head just can't flow the amount of air that there Vtec counterparts can.

tatmonster 07-27-2003 06:48 PM

oops

sorry about that. 299 duration intake, 291 duration exhaust. Intake lift:.445 Exhaust lift: 434 thats what I have.:D

haha okie..thats explains it alot better. i was going to say...ur not going to hit anywhere ur target na range without any duration, especially on a non-vtec head.

seems like a good profile. how are u going to tune them?

tatmonster 07-28-2003 01:55 AM

tune

tune them as in having cam gears?? I have a set of Skunk2s, if thats what you mean.

_crs 07-28-2003 06:09 AM

bisi and them are doing 200+ on single cam engines. 200hp on NONVTEC is possible all motor..that's some serious cash being dropped. LS/VTEC can reach 200hp easy.

EEK 07-28-2003 06:25 AM

there's guy up here pushin 184 at the wheels all motor ls..he has a gude head and i believe 11:1 cr maybe 11:.5 im not sure

nah, i ment...how are u going to tune for fuel with those. it would seem...larger injectors and a good dyno tune would be necessary in order to run these properly. with profiles like that...ur idle might be very lopey.

Isn't he also using individual throttles?

Bisi had a good showing at Battle this weekend.

Bert 07-28-2003 10:01 AM

bisi is using a f22 accord motor though...he used to use a 1.5 crx hf motor but opted to get the bigger sohc...both motors he uses Weber 55mm 2barrel sidedraft carburetors...

JKim 07-28-2003 10:06 AM

hes using weber carburetors? holy crap...i guess EFI seems to be an overated commodity.

ZeroMR 07-28-2003 11:05 AM

yup it's possible, but major mods gotta be down. going 2.0 is a must. i know someone who pushed 185 on his LS. but lots of money went in it.

future prospect

well I have an afc for the car, and bigger injectors are on the list too, so is there anything else you think would help me?? thanks:D I was tired as crap when i read your post about tuning so disregard the cam gear thing:p

I appreciate everyone's feedback. Do you also think it will be pretty easy to drop a B16A into the Integra pretty easy with no mods? In Japan, they came stock for the 90 integra.
