924x4 ranger with svo mustang rear end trouble
ok i have a 92 ranger on 33x14.50 with a svo lsd mustang rear end. so the problem is i hear a poping like sound from the rear when i make turns. when i built the truck i called ford and took the truck in and they said " well since its an lsd rearend the tires are really wide and since there wide the rar end binds up when i turn" so they told me to buy friction modifier. so i did and i still hear the popping noise.....
if anyone has any idea or insight id like to hear it. need an opinion before i take it and have it worked on and blow money i dnt need to.thanks

take the rear end apart and look at your bearings and ring and pinion gears...you may ahve a tooth broken off or something...

Re: 924x4 ranger with svo mustang rear end trouble
do you do any burnouts with it???
i have had a lsd rear end lock up and clunk after doing that...
i changed the oil and went and did some figure 8s to lubricate the discs and it has been fine

no i baby this truck its my daily right now. but yeah ther oil was fine no shavings or nething of that nature. but when i changed i i used lucas and added more friction reducer. but i asked one of my freinds who owns a shop and he said there just naturally tight rear ends. i just dnt want anything bad to happen

well they should not make a popping noise...
when the gears were installed ..did they tighten the pinion nut correctly...'
iirc it has a "crush"sleeve/washer and if its tightened down too tight it pulls the pinion too far up and makes it too tight...
i would lean more towards that being the issue...especially if it has only started doing this since the gears were put in

nothing was over tightened i had it looked over by several people to make sure it looked right before i drove it but it did it with the stock gears too.

Re: 924x4 ranger with svo mustang rear end trouble
well have you tried putting on regular size tires and seeing if it does it???
i mean it shouldnt affect it at all...
i had 40s on my f250 and it never made a difference...
