I'm not familiar with the Mk4 1.8t
I'd search VWvortex if no one replies in here.
Also, I see you're from Henrico. If you need local assistance check Richmonddubs.com
They're cool dudes.

*Check firts post for update*
I've been all over vortex and found tons of people that have the same issues but noone has an answer for them either. The most I've found is that it's common for the water pumps to fail early due to them having plastic impellers. Of course this guy doesnt want to pay me for checking because Im charging him $200 to check.... which is fair for the amount of shit that has to come off ot get to the water pump. Thanx anyways though.

That was my first thought when you said it happened after high RPM, but I didn't post because I don't know anything about VWs.

Seriously, they have plastic impellers?

You can pull the thermostat out and reach in to feel the back side of the water pump. I put them in all the time, plastic junk!

Seriously..... I thought the germans made these cars?

I found that out too.... but you gotta pull the alternator/various other odds and ends to even get to the water neck so you can remove the thermostat.

This guy is being a pain anyway. He thinks $300+ parts is to much for this job. I told him to call around to get estimates and that he wasn't going to get this done for cheaper. I'm having to work out a deal for a set of rims and tires he has just so he can pay me.

Thanx guys.... It was the pump. The comlete empeller assembly split in half. Thankfully no pieces were pushed into the system.
