I've done that too. Poorman's way, but it works. Just make sure to brace the breaker bar against the floor. A blow torch and PB blaster works wonders also. If you're putting it back on yourself, you'll need a breaker bar anyway. Better to spend your $20 toward the right tools and you'll be prepared for next time.

it is very easy to do this i just did it for him yesterday with a prybar wedged into the ring gear teeth on the flywheel. and my breaker bar and my five foot sissy bar popped in a single turn.

ive broke four impact sockets doing it that exact way.
