As most of you know I am looking for a 99-02 R6. But the info I have read about them is that they have a big 2nd gear problem. It this true any info on it? Having sec thoughts about getting a R6......... A GSXR sounds good right about now.

 

i know the problem existed on 98 R1's, i'd do a little more research but if i remember right i think its just first year R6's

 

It was a problem on 99-01 R6's, then i think they finally tried to correct the problem in '02. I cant remember what it was, just a lot of stress to something

I didnt have the exact problem everyone else had with the 2nd gear, mine ended being a bad tension spring (thank god). Put it this way, if you test ride an R6 Jesus and it doesnt shift well from second gear to into second gear, then it is experiencing the problem. Other than that you should be good.

Ahh. I see your concern. Sounds like what i got the clutch plates for, but since i havent installed them i dont know if thats was the problem or not. Maybe its this problem

 

maybe I dont know.... just makes me not get a R6. All the miles ranges from when it starts. Its from 7,000 miles to 23,000 miles.

 

Yeah. The repair is expensive as hell too. I too am under the impression that i road mine correctly, so it should be a factory fix. Then again, i bought the bike with a shit load of miles on it. I guess you need to find a gixxer homie.
