Default 240sx Se.....s??

My suitemate here is about to purchase a 95 240 from a local dude. He says it's a SE-S or SES or something, supposed to be a model up from the SE. Now we're no guru's or anything, but we're both pretty knowledegble about cars and neither of us has heard anything like this. It has factory 16s instead of the usual 15s, and the white indiglo gauges. Anyone with some info is appreciated.

im pretty sure there's the base model and SE model for '95 240s. There is an LE model for 97 and 98s.

never heard of such a thing, and the plain SE model comes with white face guages. Did you ask him what's so special about the SE-S that makes it better? What do the wheels look like...5 spoke?

I've never heard of any model designations for a 240SX besides SE and LE.

This might help some (scroll to the bottom): http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/history.htm

He said it comes with something like 170/175 ft/lbs of torque...like 10 extra. Something that struck us as odd is that it has leather inserts on the doors, yet cloth seats. The rims at 5 spoke, but 16s instead of the usual 15s.

I'm startin to raise the bullshit flag.

no the guy is BS the car is not.

there are base models and SE models of the 95-96 240. Leather doors indicate the car had leather but the seats were changed. or the door panels were changed...

sunroof?
ABS?
Rear sway bar?

factory specs were 155hp and 150 or 160ft/lbs torque. RWHP numbers in stock cars usually 130rwhp and 140rwtq.

How would you be able to tell if it was the infamous "se-x" model? Where would the serial # of the SR engine be?

I hope this helps you... I just walked downstairs to the parking lot to look at the stock wheels on my SE, hold on to your pants folks.......16 INCHES !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry I didn't realize this earlier (had it in my head that they were 15). So ya, it's just a stock SE with leather panels.
