EPROM is reflashable

 

Oh ok. Now I see what you're asking. Some of the DSM ECUs have a replaceable EPROM, and some don't. The ones with EPROMs are reprogrammable (reflashing is for flash memory, not PROMs) with a new EPROM, just like OBD1 Honda ECUs. This all assumes you have access to some sort of tuner software to make a new .bin file for the ECU, or have somewhere to get "tuned" EPROMs. I have no experience with DSM ECUs, but I've heard the hardware mods are very straightforward. I can probably help you out with that if you can point me toward something that explains the mods. I think it may be as simple as removing the stock PROM and installing a socket in it's place for easy PROM changes.

 

the eprom is a ecu is usually an ecu off select 95 dsm's. the 95 ecu came with a chip in the ecu. you can replace the chip in the ecu with an eprom chip. the eprom is great for DSMLINK, i have 2 buddies with dsmlink and they love it. they can tune anything and monitor anything on their cars. dsmlink2 for the 1gs just came out. so you might want to look into that

note: you do not need to have a 95 dsm to use have eprom. you buy complete new ecu from slowboy or machv or whoever. they will sell you an eprom ecu for how ever much they are. you wil just swap out your old ecu and plug in your new one

 

Cool, I'll have to look into the DSMLink stuff, I'm always looking for new services to add to my after work ECU business..

By the way, some of the earlier DSMs had EPROM-based ECUs also, not just the 95-99 like DSMLink does..
