i got mine about 5 years ago, im down to a 4 gauge
i remember drooling alot when it was pierced, eating alot of soft tacos for about a week, it was tough bc i had to take it out bc i was military and we couldnt have them, so was a little more painful healing process
as soon as you can change it, go to an acrylic barbell, your teeth will thank you

I got mine done about 8 months ago at urban xchange at the ocean front. was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. It was tough eating for the first couple weeks. Dont play with it, swish listerine, and it should heal just fine. once the swelling goes down, i recommend switching to a shorter legnth stud... the one they give you is long to accomidate for swelling. Its dont so quickly that it doesnt really have time to hurt (if the piercer is good)... overall im very happy with it. i plan on getting more piercings done in the future, probably lip done here soon...

you arent supposed to take the bar out at all for a month or two i believe. i forget.
taking the bar in and out of your tongue is seriously the weirdest, and most grossly odd feeling ive ever felt in my entire life and its something i dont miss.
and you have to chew very, veryt carefully.. i dont know how many times i was eatings teak and took a big bite and chomped right down on the bar..which hurt like fucking shit
tongue bars are stupid. i miss my eyebrow, and really want to get that done again.. but the tongue bar i dont miss one bit.
got mine when i turned 15.had it for 2 years.
it closes up in less than a day once its fully healed.. i had to shove it through once or twice if i fell asleep without it..
if you do get it go get that special salt mouthwash i cant remember the brand eckerds has it it has no alcohol and i think uses salt water or something..
do not use listerine.
