Why not take advantage of the labor involved in removing the flywheel and replace it with an upgraded one, then resell your original? Heavy flywheels are good for maintaining a high rotation for launching. Lighter flywheels are better for changing the speed quickly as they have less rotational mass, better for autocross and road racing.

I already knew that. I have a lightweight flywheel in the car now and was thinking about putting my stocker back in since the revs don't drop as quickly in between shifts. so, anyone know where I can get my flywheel resurfaced?

Ah, okay -- you are going back to the heavier stock one and just want a better balance it seems. Should cost about $50 from a shop that has the correct tools do do this. Much more involved than turning rotors. Not sure of any local shops off-hand, so you may want to start by calling up a few racer friendly shops in the area and ask where they get theirs done. Give Joe Overton a call at his shop. Experience and recommendations from past customers will count for more than just the simple tools and ability.

while we're on the topic of machining...Are there any good machine shops around here that can bore blocks, shave decks, do headwork, etc for a good price?
Thanks
