High RPM power loss
I've got a 2001 Eclipse Gt. When i floor it the car dies out at about 4500 rpms. It's like once the rpms hit that point it just crawls to five and six. any advice on this problem would be gladly appreciated. someone told me it might be the timing belt...?
1. Has it always done this?
2. If not, when did it start (more importantly, if you are modded, did you have this problem directly after or soon after any mod installations)?

just got the car from my dad......it's currently at 45k miles with no mods....to my knowledge i've only known it to do this since i got it which is about two months ago
yeah have you modded it in any way??? kinda sounds like a fuel cut out, try fuel filter check the pump, and then i would look in the ignition system. but if they all fail get rid of the dam eclipse
I agree that a fuel filter or pump could be the cause of your problem, the car may be starving for fuel at high RPMs, if you have a EGT gauge or Lean/Rich your readings will be hot and lean respectively at high RPMs. Although this may seem to be an odd comparison, the only time I've ever had this problem is with Valve issues on my 18V, but it was also combined with semi poor acceleration in the low band.

, also check your timing
