Im in the market for a new daily driver, since the Prelude has lost overdrive. Looking to spend no more than $4k for the car.

I would like to have 4 doors and air conditioning if possible. I just want the car to get me from point A to point B without having to make major repairs often. I dont mind changing the oil, brakes, etc.... Just dont want to look at rebuilds on something that I dont plan on putting any $$ into.

Ive been looking at 94-96 Honda Civics, because I like the body style. They are cheap on insurance and they get good gas mileage. Is the Civic my best choice? I saw a 96 Jetta today that I could see myself driving. How are they for durability?

What would you guys get if you were in my shoes?

Volkswagen are about as reliable as a Ford but cost way more for repair. I would go for a used civic like you said or a corolla.

Forgot to ask. How many miles is too many for a used Civic of any year?

 

Well, im going to look at a 93 4 dr Civic. Its a blue automatic and he says the AC blows cold. Ill report back in about an hour or so.
