Fellow DSMers DIY UIC Pipe...
I tried doing the "buy 2 "alumninum" pipes from JC Whitney (they were exhaust pipes instead when I got them) and weld a BOV on and be done with it type thing. but the welder was asshole and welded my pipes togeather all f*ked up. Anyone else think I should try it? I'm on the verge but I dont want to rip up my only plastic ic pipe I have and find out it does not work.
I bought the 2 flex pipes for $5.11 total so far. I'm going to go get the plasti-dip and silicone sealer and the couplings and clamps tomorrow. I am hoping to stay under $50 with this alternative. But if you guys saw what I went thru at the track and sometimes when traveling down i-40 and all of a sudden you hear POP ssssSSSSSSSSSSS and you lose all feel of horse power in your car, then you'd understand my search for a cheap alternative. Thanks guys and girls.

Should have asked me....Would have seen what I could have done or the guy at my dad's shop. You live and you learn.
I personally don't care for it. By some hard pipes and be done with it. If you build one yourself you may run into more problems later. Unless of course you aren't running the stock ic, which I know you are.

hmm.. I know larry has his tuned and venting with out the maft. He was showing me this last week. He had to add make a vacumn line into the wastegate actuator and ran it into the extra vac. line on his hks bov. It's running good witout any set backs.

Well bro, my personal advise, save up for DSMlink first, screw the UICP and GM unit for now. The 2g unit flows near identical to the 2g MAS, and with DSMlink to can calibrate your hacked 2g unit to read identical to a stock MAS (not just fuel compensations but also airflow compensations), so you'll flow near identical to the GM unit, and in all honesty the venting this is way overrated, I've ran both the HKS SSQV as well as the Greddy Type S bov in both configurations (vented and recirc'd) and I noticed NO difference, theoretically its there, but seriously its just bench racing and in the real world you wont notice a single bit of difference unless you're using a crappy valve such as the stockers.
The UICP can be done later down the road, but again I highly advise DSMlink over your current choice. I talk from experience, running DSMLink V2, the GM MAFT, and an HKS SSQV currently, so I'm not just spitting a bench racers idea to you, but rather my own personal advise. Having the fuel and tuning capabilities of dsmlink is so much more than most DSMers ever dream of, and having that your ENTIRE modding life is something that should definately be aimed for before the latest new trend.

You can run it on both, however I have yet to try the palm application even though I have my old M100 laying around from my Pocketlogger days. I have a 133mhz laptop I use for it. Basically I'd advise using a laptop to actually do the tuning, and then maybe keeping a compatible palm in the glove box in case you are driving and something seems to be not quite right down the road, just for logging. Its nice how on DSMlink you can log stupid amounts of parameters such as 30 or so all at the same time, instead of just like 4 at a time or so on the pocketlogger.
