Default Rear End Gears For A Stang

You Mustang/Ford guys out there,

I have an 89 GT with the stock rear end gears, 2.73s. I was looking to upgrade the gears soon and I was wondering if I should go with 3.55s or 373s. The car is my daily driver and needs to be streetable as well as good for long highway drives. I also want to the most out of my launches too. If anyone has experience with either or both, please let me know.

isnt their a 323 gear or something? 373 would be good for strip but not gas mileage

3.73's with OD isn't to bad. With my 200R4 and 28" tall tires (a .67 OD) at 70mph I'll turn just over 2k rpms.

General rule of thumb for mostly stock street driven 5.0's:

manual - 3.73's
auto - 4.10's

with that said, I was still getting 24 mpg with the 3.73's in my old 'vert
