I found out the the lip on the current wheel is 1.5" or 2". The 2" should put me at 16 x 8. Close call though.

 

be sure your not measuring the bead seat.

faces are 1/2"
bead seats on lip and barrel are 1/2" each
if you measure total overall width of the wheel from farthest outside to farthest outside you need to -1" from the width as you measured the seats as well.
