We are moving and the location we are going to has ntelos tv and internet. They recently put fiber optics in about a year ago. How is there service/speed? They list 6-20 Mbps internet speeds.
They also have comcast but I have heard a ton of people that have had bad experiences w/ them. Anyone?

 

Comcast is not *that* bad. I wouldn't give them a penny of my money because I've had a bad experience, but they've treated a few of my friends decently. I have Verizon DSL and DirectTV.

nTelos lists 3mbps on their website; be weary of false promises. Then, they list 6-20mbps on another page. Doesn't make sense.

Big difference between 3mbps and 6-20mbps. Besides, 6-20mbps is a HUGE speed range. Cox quotes 6-10mbps.

Do you play any games online? Ping may be a factor, especially if the internet is wireless? I don't see any details on their site.. is it over fiber?

 

It is over fiber. They recently put the lines in several years ago. No gaming here.

 

We have ntelos at work. It sucks bad. Very slow speeds. Goes out at least once a week for an hour or or two at a time. Every time we call them they always give us the standard "it must be something on your end" and won't come out and look at it.

I would stay far, far away from them...

 

I had Ntelos a few years back. Everything was slow and committed to "long term goals" for their deadlines. Their goals have yet to become a reality here. I don't miss their services one bit!

 

Were these the fiber optic lines? Not sure it matters as it sounds like they haven't got the old technology down yet.

 

No, back then and probably the same case now. it was just office talk and big dreams. They told me when I called customer service to inquire about the upgrading, that my area would be upgraded later on but we were not a desirable demographic in a round about kind of way.

Moving across town in the Hollins area the 20th of this month.
Anybody have a good hook-up for tv or internet hit me up. We need to make a decision soon.
