Default Skyline Drive

This is sort of short notice, but a few friends were planning on driving up to the mountains tomorrow afternoon. We're starting in Williamsburg and heading out past Charlottesville to cruise on Skyline Drive. Wondering if anyone else would be interested in going along for the drive?

Skyline Drive Route

We were planning to leave between noon and 2:00 but had scheduling conflicts and now the plan is to leave around 5:30-6:00, making this a night-time mountain cruise.

If there's any interest I'll post more details.

If you have to ask, then you don't understand.

So far we've got an '05 Subie Legacy, '04 RX8, a Civic and my SSEi going.

Great route but the views are harder to see at night aren't they?

Well it was nearly a full moon last night and no fog at all. So the overlooks were actually decent. But our intent for going up there was the road, Williamsburg's road are boring.

We're thinking about going again sometime, maybe in the spring, during the daytime though.

When you get close to richmond, take exit 200 for i-295, then take exit for rt-33, it will take you on scenic winding roads all the way to skyline drive. the last 5 miles or so on rt-33 before skyline is an awesome winding snake touge that will get your heart pounding.

Our original plan was to take Rte 33 up and come down Skyline Drive back to 64. But we missed Rte. 33 and just drove up Skyline until we hit 33 and then came back down the way we went.

Looks like we're planning to do this again possibly next month. But we might be doing the Blue Ridge Parkway this time. I'll either bump this topic when we figure out a date etc. or start a new thread. It would be great for more cars/people to come out.
