Default Anyone in the NOVA area repair gaming systems

My PS3 I believe has a bad blue ray reader. I refuse to send it back to sony and pay 150 for it to break again in a few months. I asked the game stop, and other places I could think of, but no one seems to know who can repair the problem. I googled and came up with a few people, who were all extra sketchy.

So if anyone knows a local person who can fix the PS3, please let me know

So, you're looking to replace the entire blu-ray drive?

If you supply the parts, I may beable to help you. I replaced my power supply on my own, and it was a pretty easy process. From the diagram I see to remove the blu-ray drive, it looks relatively simple.

Also, are you sure it's the blu-ray drive? What are the symptoms?

Isn't that part ... the lens like 15 bucks. Do some research on the net . I seen some do it yourself guides out there.

Iv'e done my research, that's why I refuse to pay the $150 for sony to fix my system, when the part I need is only $15... and there is no guarantee that it will stay working.

the symptoms are that the system recognizes I have put a game or dvd in (the small turning disc in the corner spins) but it will not bring up the button for me to run my game of movie (it knows it has a disc, but can't read it)... I have tried regular dvd's (non blue ray) and they do not work either...

I can however play the games that I have downloaded and they run fine...

The reason I won't do this myself is because my solution is a hammer... I'd rather be able to play COD and tekken instead of staring at a $600 paper weight

I miss starland.

Hm.

Well, I looked into it a little bit further: (http://www.ps3news.com/forums/ps3-gu...ns-100237.html)

I wouldn't exactly feel comfortable replacing the lens itself -- though I'm sure I could do it. But, if you want to give it a shot (or let me try), I can get the blu ray drive out for you without a problem.

Also, hit me up for some tekken matches. I thought only NeoXianWu and I were the only active players on the board :T Psn is: Junon_FD or ForMyNinjas
