I have a 92 VW Golf GL. 120,000 original miles. love this car, but dont have the money to fix her up. the spark plugs and wires have been changed in the past 2 months. New battery and fairly new tires. Cd Player, sunroof, automatic, inside is really clean.

EDIT: has a broken coolant hose or something broken behind motor, needs some work before driving.

What motor does it have? the DOHC 1.8? The SOHC 2.0? I think the Gen2 had the DOHC 1.8 that made more horsepower than the gen3 & gen4 SOHC 2.0 .. something like 136hp vs 118hp. But they had a diesel back then too ... do you know which motor you have here?

Does the transmission slip @ all? Do all the lights work, front and back / blinkers / brakes?

its looks like a mark 2 ABA to me. so with it being a 1992 it should make 118hp.

136 didnt come until the changed the displacement and head of the caar which wasnt until 1993

 

its an 8v digifant II
should make about 100-105 hp

has it had a paintjob recently? it looks fresh-ish

 

had a paint job a couple years ago (originally teal) dont know much about the car, its a friends, give her a call or text

 

but you can always put the 93+ head on it right? :-) think i read about this on vwvortex aeons ago ..

 

^ possible. but its better/easier just to do the whole swap. or you can do a whole VR6 swap. then it would be awesome.

i know of some sick nasty x-flow swaps.
