what a night.........
Had a nice long day and a great weekend with my wife for her birthday etc. and watched the superbowl. Of course it all had to come to an end like all great things and i had to come into work.....
stopped at a friends house on the way to work to see him before he goes back to NY tomorrow. At this point im in ashburn and on my way towards rt 7 on ashburn village blvd.
come to the lighted intersection of Ashburn village blvd and rt 7. all lights are red at the moment i got there (mine just turned red), both of the green arrows for the left hand turn lanes on rt 7 light up and cars begin to turn towards me (coming from the right side of me)

The car that was on my left that was supposed to turn Left (straight ahead of me). but instead decided that she wanted to go straight instead of turn.... meaning go up further on rt 7 toward my right.....she accelerated hard and her eclipse crashed into the passenger doors of the toyota camry. both vehicles came to a rest about 20 ft to my left in at the edge of the median.
I immediately got out of my truck to make sure everyone was ok.
not being able to see throught the dust of the airbags that blew in the eclipse i could not see if the person was ok. but i heard the engine attempt to accelerate. the car started to move and was about to move past my truck.
I immediatedly jumped in my truck and turned into the turning lane to my left and stopped her vehicle from moving with my tahoe. i got back out and tried to open her passenger door, which was locked. i tried the driver door and knocked. (still not being able to see in the car.) she didnt open the door. I yelled through the window hoping she would hear "Turn off the car now and open the door". didnt happen...... im thinking she is not ok and her foot is rested on the accelerator, the RPM's of the engine were climbing and beginning to get much louder (thankfully since her tranny fluid is all over the street the car wasnt going to go anywhere, after it was stopped by my truck).......
so i went to the passenger side of the car and punched out the window. reached in and yanked turned the car off and yanked the keys out of the ignition.... I heard crying....good sign. unlocked her door from the passenger side and went to the driver side and opened her door to get her some air from the cloud of airbag dust (this can make someone go unconcsious).
Found her crying into her airbag with no seatbelt on. I asked if she was ok, if she can move. she said yes. i said "good, stay in your seat and lay your head against the headrest"
I ran over to the camry which the girl in the car was already on the phone with 911. she opened her door to me and she was hysterical trying to talk to them. i snatched up the phone and told them where we were.
Asked the Victim if she was ok. she said her neck hurt. i asked her if she could move her legs, she could. I asked her to lay her head against the head rest until the ambulance arrives.....she had to have been around 20-22 yrs old.
I turn around and the girl from the eclipse is behind me.... asking the victim if she was ok. I told the girl from the eclipse to sit in the median and wait for the cops.... now i have two girls balling their eyes out while we wait for the bus and cops.
after a while of trying to keep them talking i realize the girl from the eclipse is wasted (she also didnt look like she was over 20 yrs old).
a cop that was in the process of pulling someone over across the street, heard me yell to him that we needed him. (he didnt see us). so he let the person go and came right over. he checked on everyone. got my license and theirs as well. while we waited for the ambulance.... 6 or 7 more police cars show up behind me. they do the usual routine questions etc until the ambulance and firetruck arrive.
The girl from the eclipse is in the median. she refuses medical help... then stands up... only to fall forward and smack her head into her own passenger door.... still refuses medical assistance and then refuses to take the usual DUI tests.... so of course she was cuffed and put in the back of a cruiser. while they serched her car they found a full of those little hard liquor drinks (shot glass sized ones in hotel rooms or airplanes). had to have been about 20 of them. They all looked full and didnt seem to be any of them open in the car.
the victim left on a stretcher. gave the police my statement, they checked over my truck for damage (which there was none) but they took pictures and gave me the drunk girls information just in case.
this is my rant.... while it may be just another "Don't drink and drive" post. this could have been much worse....

Good work man. Good to see that there are still people in the world who give a fuck about other people, and actually used this type of situation to help another person.
