Sleeved gsr bottom end with ls head???
Ok, im asking this because, I want to build a mild non/vtec build for my boosted integra. Just for reliability's sake, and a tad bit more boost.
I already have acquired a very nice built ls head, and am just now looking for some turbo cams. I ask about using the sleeved gsr bottom end, because I may be able to acquire one for fairly cheap. I could easily get a b16/gsr head, but I dont really want vtec, im happy with just boost.
So will there be any downfalls of using the gsr bottom end without vtec? Will I have to spend any extra money to get it to work?
The head has over-sized valves and has been worked on by JG(its stamped), and I will be using stage 2 turbo cams, probably around 15-16psi on pump and 20-22psi on racegas.
Anybody have any ideas on what kinda power it should make? Its a 2.0 bottom end, I may get.
Isnt this basically the same concept of people running vtec/killer cams?

I think you are going to run into problems using the non vtec head. The belts and all are the same, problem is the oiling orifice (or jet thats in the gsr block). Be much easier to just use a vtec head.
The oil squiters wont its the oriface on top of the block that will give you an issue
plus you will lose some displacement going from a 89mm ls grank to a 87.4 gsr crank it will be more rev happy but you will loose some tq.

what he said the little single oriface. Its in the middle of the block on the intake side. I've read somewhere only way to make it work it to block it off and use a ls vtec conversion kit utilizing the oil line and such.
Most guys use a vtec head and just leave the plugs unplugged and not even run it. Tex at B.R.E uses an ls/vtec and leaves them unplugged for his drag car. Just my .02
LOL. I'm not buying someones, beat to hell set-up, no offense. I'm building something for reliability's sake, and I damn sure don't want a used motor.
So there isnt that big of a issue running a non/vtec head on a gsr bottom end? I am basically using it because its a 2.0l bottom end and sleeved, will I be losing power by not using a ls bottom end?

I dont want vtec, I have way better luck with non/vtec and boost.
I just need the response of will it work, how much work is needed to get it to work, and will there be any power downfall of using a vtec bottom end instead of a non/vtec one.
I dont care if you think I should go buy a vtec head or not, im doing something because I want to, and this is what I have available.
