Does anyone around the NOVA area have a 99-02 R6 coil they could let me borrow so I can troubleshoot my bike? It randomly started running shitty and sounds like a WRX. I put plugs and a new fuel filter in but no luck. Im changing the cam chain tensioner today too so if it does not work id like to try swapping coils one by one before I buy a new one. Thanks in advance.

 

have you tried cleaning the carbs?

 

No but I couldnt think of how it would go from running great to shitty in a second...Wouldnt dirty carbs be a gradual thing? Im not very familiar with carbs.

 

All it takes is a single small piece of trash in one of the jets to make it not even run.

 

So I checked for spark at the coils by grounding an old plug and the spark was very week on every single coil. I tried hooking up my timing light to check ignition timing and the light would not even register the spark at the coil. i hooked it up to my truck to make sure the light worked and it worked fine. So what would make the bike not get enough spark? Battery is at 12.4 volts with the bike off and high 13's with it idling. Also ohmed out the ignition pickup and it ohmed out good. i want to ride :[
