What do you think about the Ford Edge?
What's your opinion of the Ford Edge?
I've decided I want to start considering getting new cars. I deserve to reward myself every once in a while with something nice, and I think the Edge seems nice enough without being too nice--but has a lot of potential. If I buy a new or lightly used vehicle, I don't want to spend more than $25,000 max, so that's part of why the Edge seems like a good choice. I'm looking for something with power everything, preferably leather, sunroof/moonroof, navigation, decent mileage, decent stock sound system that preferably plays mp3's right off the bat to eliminate any immediate need to upgrade...
On the other hand, I haven't done much research on it at all to know if there are any common problems, what kind of mileage it gets, etc. Is there anything specifically cool about it?
My only plans with it would be lower it a little, put some modest clean wheels on it, and do a mild tint on the windows. I think I'd be happy with it as it sat.

Dang, after reading Car & Driver, it seems as if I would be well into the $30k range if I got all the options I wanted. Of course, that's factoring new, and I really wouldn't mind lightly used especially if it saved me a bundle of money.
I'd really like to, at the least, get the optional satellite radio (although I realize I could just add it later), navigation, and "monster moonroof"
I really like that copper color, but ehhh... it might be a bit much. I was just hoping to keep the payments below $400 a month, mainly because I can't justify spending much more than that on vehicle expenses right now.

I like the Ford Edge. And when I get the Mach1 completely paid off in the next couple months, I'm going to be seriously considering one for a new daily driver.
I haven't heard of any problems with them; in fact everything I've heard about them is positive.
Some cool features are the 3.5 liter DOHC 265 horsepower V6 (Ward's Best Engine of 2007), six speed automatic, navigation, the Vista moonroof and Sync (the Microsoft powered voice activation system).
They get 24MPG which is pretty good for this size vehicle and can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
On top of all that, I think they're the sharpest looking crossover on the market right now:

I think if it was me, however, I'd get a lightly used one of these:

Thanks for the post! I've looked at the Lincoln version, but I really don't want to extend past what I've already mentioned I want to spend. That's already sort of pushing what I'd like to pay anyway...
I might have to keep looking or wait to buy a new vehicle, because I really don't want to spend more than $400 a month and I'm not going to want to settle for less options to save money. If I can't get what I want, for what I want to spend, I won't be buying.

Pictures please.

The R/T AWD model will have the 3.5 High Output that has became famous around dodge. The option list on it is crazy. Fully loaded price isn't the cheapest though. Should be a fun vehicle.

im not really a huge fan of crossovers, however i looked through a brochure for the edge and its a pretty good all around vehicle it seems.
if youre in the market for this class of vehicle, i gotta give it to the edge

I forgot to mention in my initial post, but the Edge also has the audio input jack you seek and AWD.

Looks like a Caliber with a different grille. I'm not feeling it. In my opinion, the Edge looks way better.

Dodge has had that jack for years now. It was in our '04 Durango. Only thing about the edge I dont like is the grill, it looks WAY too similar. I'm a Dodge guy until it comes to Mustangs, then I'm a traitor.
