Default Why you don't use cheap engine/transmission mounts.

I used AVID mounts on a swap about a year ago (b18/CRX). The guy calls me up and says his car seems to vibrate really bad, especially at idle. Since this guy is about 45 and wanted a "peppy" commuter car i knew he hadn't been beating the shit out of it.

When he brought it by I was pretty shocked at what i found. All the epoxy in the rear mount (or whatever the fuck they used) had melted. The rear T-mount was now resting on the sub-frame.

I have emailed AVID to see what they will do, i wouldn't usually use this brand but they were brought to me. I would only recommend their billet mounts. I had to shorten their shift linkage as well.

I am curious to see how they handle this.

Here you can see the mount bracket resting on the bolt head.

Here is the ooze.

Damn, that sucks. But i wouldnt rule out beating the shit out of it lol. Ive seen older folks drive em hard as a bitch. You might know the guy personally and know otherwise, buti wouldnt rule anything out. Ive used Avid before also, never really had an issue with the mounts.
