lowering a bike
hey i have a 95 kawasaki ninja zx-6r and i want to lower it.. i lowerd it before from the triple tree but i couldnt turn the handle bars because the shocks touched the frame bars.. but i want to lower it all the way around... ne 1 know how?
1. Chop the spring on your shock. This isn't exactly recommended because it will affect the ride quality by making it harsher.
2. Check ebay or get a custom set of dogbones made. Dogbones are also referred to as links, or lowering links for your application.
Once you get the rear height set where you want, you can safely drop the front as well.
Good luck and keep the rubber side down.
we can make them while you wait I have the metal at the shop. Can also set them up to give you a stock height or a lowered height . depending on how much you lower it you may need to cut and reweld the foot on the kick stand. You dont just cut the foot off. No foot and hot pavement dont work. We are a legit shop with insurance. We can get anything and do anything. good luck with the project and keep it safe
hes going to have problys with the front forks...
if i remember right the 95 zx6r's dont have clip on bars like the gsxr or hondas... u might have to get aftermarket clip on bars...
if u doing this for drag racing u can just strap the front.. it will let u lower the front while racing then just bring it back up when not.. dont think its very safe to ride alllllll day with it straped.. i know its no good on ur shocks
lower links are cheap... i think i rather just buy sum CNC ones or have sum made with good steel..
why are u want to lower a 600 tho?..

The zx6r does have clipons but the zx600 non R does not. so yes you can slide the tubes threw the tripple. the zx6 non R you can not and yes you would need clippons to lower the front.. he said that he had a zx6r so I just wanted to point this out.
ya i ebayd it to see but they didnt have on there.. i know the older zx6s dont have them..
