Alright.... lets say you have a civic...totalled in a rear end collision...the whole front clip is damaged. But the engine and everything is intact. A shop is quoting you 3850 for for everything fixed for the front end alone. Basically the whole repair to the front clip is 4000. Now say you buy a front clip and buy a bunch of the needed parts and spend a total of 1400 dollars and you bring down the estimate from 4000 to 2000. So you spend 1400 to save 600. Now you havent bought the parts yet but you are about to.

Someone offers you a completely good civic shell...a 00 shell and you have a 99 civic. Just a rolling shell with perfect body work primered and ready to be painted. No dings dents or what not. Your 99 civic has 8 years of dings and dents. Would you spend 2500 to buy the shell in perfect condition and swap everything that you have over like your coilovers, intake, exhaust, seats, lip...fog lights etc etc or you would just stick with your original car and finish repairing it?

 

I personally would get the 00 shell and swap parts over

 

I say swap the motor into the new body.

 

sell the clip on ebay, swap your old engine into the shell, and theb sell whatever you could off of the totalled car.
