I still don't get why every night they have to block off the same right lane and break the same fucking block of concrete and fill it back up. Seriously, we have some of the worst roads in the country. Even after the blocks are filled, driving on the right lane is like riding on a roller coaster in busch gardens. WTF? Why can't we have normal straight Tar roads like every other f'in state. Driving in NC is so pleasant compared to this concrete shit. It's good to see nice use of tax payers money right there. Forget fixing local roads, let's see how many times we can break the same fucking block and fill it up again. YAY!!

Today, on my way to work, there's some road construction on ocean view. However at the end of the end of the detour, they make you jump a small curb to get back over. Granted, it's a small curb, but to an unsuspecting driver, that could be very detrimental. I learned this the hard way today. WTF? Who makes a detour over a curb and gives no warning before hand?

The detour also made me take a road i was unfamiliar with and there were god knows how many cracks and pot holes on the road, i hit one so hard, the front right tire now has a bubble and having RFTs, this are expensive to replace.

Fuck you VDOT!!

i feel you pain.....my steering wheel vibrates like crazy and i nee new lower ball joints on my car from the roads here....i have driving across the country in a semi truck for a living and virginia isnt the worst state but i do put it in the top 5.

 

Nearly all residential road work is performed to get to buried utilities then patch up after work is performed instead of fixing potholes created by erosion or damage. Are you sure it's VDOT's fault?

Well look. Suffolk took over the maitenence of roads in Suffolk of course, thinking they could do better, They were supposed to shut down the God win Bridge for 10 mins MAX for minor repair. Well they and up have both lanes shut for an hour and a half before SF&R investigated it after having to get through it to a call then they changed to one lane alternating for about 2 and a half hours and held traffic up 3 miles each way.

 

Definitely caught me off guard first time I came up on it, luckily I was driving my gf's truck. But yea I was also wondering what genius came up with that one.

 

With all the BS theyve done is SUffolk, Ive had to take extremely long ways around with they way they jacked up 17, they've had 4 inch dropoffs and ive had to lieterally stop to get over em and have the construction guys groan about it

 

yeah, and that's not limited only to suffolk, we have some random drop offs here on norfolk as well, and god forbid, hampton blvd, i am not even going to start talking about the horrible condition that road is in.

 

I just fixed my frotn end and lowered it more. It wouldnt bother me so bad if I didnt have 17's. But thers so little tire on em you cant hit anything> Ive got to where I only drive in areas Im familiar with

 

My uncle is NOVA's project coordinator. If you think Va's roads are bad, you havent been to many other states... but I will agree some roads blow nuts.
