What to look for when buying a DSM??
Going to look at an 95 Eclipse GS-T today and a 94 LS Integra tomorrow. I like Acuras because I know how to work on them. I've heard bad things about crankwalk on DSM's. I am looking for any suggestions on things to check for with the Eclipse such as common problems. Both have 160k. Suggestions please?
There is nothing that you can really check that would show if it was more prone to crank walk then any other 7 bolt DSM motor, it seems to happen at any mileage. If you press in the clutch and the idle drops then thats probably crankwalk. Look like your looking at any other car, turbo shaft play, fluid leaks, tranny grinding (I think DSM trannys are a little notchy but just as long as it doesnt grind). I cant think of any major recalls but you should check
Any major reliability issues other than the crankwalk? Also, I have a restricted license so I will only be putting MAYBE 5k on the car in the next year

Make sure all the routine maintence has been done, timing belts, water pump and all that jazz. Original clutch? Make sure its still grabbing decent. Contrary to popular belief, these cars WILL last for a long time if taken good care of just like any other car.
