Save the enviroment: Trade in Prius for Hummer!
thats kind of funny considering last semester my geology teacher was going on about how he had to buy a prius...or whatever it was, second version of the prius i think....
It's about time someone pointed out the production cost of those things.
This is why driving an older (relatively clean) car that's still on the road is ultimately the most environmentally sound decision. Surprise! Not consuming new stuff makes less of an impact than consuming new stuff does......who'd a thunk it....:-P

See now, I get about 43 mpg in my 94 Civic DX. I only drive it because I'm a cheap ass, but I'm doing my part for the environment. Maybe this is why Al Gore has a motorcade of suburbans wherever he goes, it's better than driving a Prius around.
good find!
In my first car, 1990 crx dx with the 1.5l dpfi I got 50mpg (in the summer off highway). The car was bone stock.
Imagine if you got a civic or any other compact commuter and modified it for gas mileage. You'd be walking all over the prius, if you aren't already.
