Default mechanic/shops around tech

anyone know of any good shops around here? my car's all fucked up and i need to take it to get it checked out. apparently, noone has any idea what's wrong with it, so... it's at south main auto right now, but i heard from eric (toda pwrd) that it's not very "reputable". so i'm prolly gonna go get it tomorrow or something and take it somewhere else. any suggestions?

You mind if I ask what's wrong with it other than it's NA?

Have you checked out the O2 sensor? Also, have you checked the wiring itself from the MAF? I would go ahead and do both of those before you pay anyone to do it. I told you I'd ask around and see what I could get for ideas, and those were just a few of the other ones. I had already thought of the o2 sensor, and I believe you told me you were going to check it, but I don't remember.

wagz,

how about new river nissan in "general"? cuz you know, sometimes you are in there for some shit and you cant ask for mike fox to do everything..... or can you? at some places... it's hard to get in touch with the mechanic thru those "behind the counter" customer reps.

do they work on hondas? cuz i need to get this "Type R" sticker on correctly.

first off, south main is a bunch of jackoffs. i took my se-r there when it was "out of allignment" and they "corrected" it. showed my the print out and everything. bullshit...the passenger side front control arm was bent alllll to shit. graves at main street automotive does very good work, but there are somethings he can't do due to lack of equipment.
mike fox is awesome. new river is great period. i took my se-r there twice for things that should have been very expensive, and they gave me awesome deals. bearings and axles. then, when my abs went out, i took it in, and they called and said, its going to cost around 1k to fix, but come in and mike fox will show you a fuse to pull that will fix all your problems.
i would trust new river even if my car wasn't being worked on specifically by mike fox.

I can't speak for everyone at South Main, but I know Joey (the guy with the white WRX wagon) knows his stuff. He's helped me on my car plenty. I know that's a pretty big place and some of the others may or may not know what they're doing. But, talk to Joey, and he'll do you right.

corey, hahaha. yea that's a big problem. damn n/a power. haha. well, my car won't start. it's cranking, but it won't start. i'm getting fuel and spark tho. i'm also getting a check engine light for my MAFS. i don't know if it's related, but sometimes, when my car's in neutral, the rpm's would just drop and continue dropping until 0 and stall the car out.

chris, i haven't checked my o2 sensor. got lazy :P i have checked the wiring tho and it's fine.

wagz, thnx man. i think i'll take my car there and see if mike fox can work on it, hehe.

stirpicult, main street auto... is that the one next to taco bell?

If your MAF is bad the car should still start, but it will run like crap. The ECU goes into "limp mode", and wont rev over I think 2700 rpms, and will run very very rich. But still, I would look at the MAF if thats the code your getting. If you can, try a known good one.
