It depends. Sometimes I go out there to buy parts, sometimes if there is something good going on at the coliseum. Oh and this one time I went out there to by a car.

I don't know about the peninsula, buy you should check out Nutty Buddy's. It's a great bar/club and you'll find lots of your kind there.
