i havent been here very long and was wondering if anybody here knew the laws on window tint levels around va beach. also, what's a good shop to go to for tinting?

 

50 down is illegal but they give you 7 points so 43 and lower is considered illegal. Honestly you dont get to much protection from the sun with legal tint. I just bought a car monday and tuesday on my way to work a state boy with nothing better to do pulls me for my tint. I asked the asswhole if I could just pull it off infront of him to neutralize the problem but the fucktard wouldn't. I was polite and ended up with a 86 dollar fine after the processing fee. Virginia is terrible for nickpicking. On top of it the tint took me a total of 30 seconds to take off. i hear good things from tnt tint, but I wouldn't do it.

Driver and passenger side windows can be as low as 50%.
The back windows can be as low as 35%.

But 200+hp240sx is correct with the 7% thing. Even though the Virginia Beach Police that have given me tickets for my tint said it was 8%.

Just keep in mind. 50% is not worth the money. A ticket for 5% window tint is the same price for 20% tint.

 

I thought the back windows can be very low like 12s? I thought they only hound you on the front 3 windows. idk. if so I need to remove my back 3 windows two lol.

 

TO MY KNOWLEDGE: A car most have 50 on front and 35 in the rear but SUV's can have 50 up front and as dark as you want in the other windows

 

i think its kinda silly that they hound people on the back three on cars but dont care at all on suv's and so on. Oh well. And it is 35 in the back which sucks for me, more tugging and pulling to go and then some windex.

 

i just had mine done right before the AIK meet. i got there after 4pm and still made it to AIK by 5pm. i only had the front windshiels strip done and it was like $30. i got the 20% film. if you ask them, they will tell you what is legal. they can sell you illegal tint if you want, but they usually won't give you the receipt. i dont think most cops fuck with my car though since i have FL plates.

I got 15% all the way around from Custom Bay Tinting.

They use Llumar tint so its good and Daren is also a good guy.
