So I picked up a stunt bike (gsx-r 600) and I'm wandering if anyone has experience with slow stunts. Does anyone know how I should gear the bike to suit my needs? What should the sprocket size's be (front/rear)? Any input or tips on smooth slow stand-still wheelies would be great...

I plan on strickly using the bike for parking lot slow stunts only.

Are you talking about doing 12 o'clocks from a stop? I don't know specifically for the GSX-R or how it's geared stock, but I think you're going to want a much bigger rear sprocket.

 

Yeah, more teeth in the back, and less up front. It also help to have the chain less slack and a little more tight.

Mosts GSXR's already come with the 50 tooth rear, i think you can get a 52 tooth rear and maybe keep 16 up from, or drop it to 15/52. I'm not a stunter, but the basics of sprockets basically say you need more in the back.

 

are u going to street ride at all, if not u need alot of gear and it comes down the rider some need less gearing then others , all matter how u ride and how good are u with your balance point

big sprocket ,cage , rear brake control,high idle, and most important practice, I have a 14-52 on my gsxr but I ride on the street so you can go way bigger than that like tiki said check out stunt life . what year gsxr I know somebody with a 905 cage and 12 bar ...

 

its going to take a lot of time and practice is all. stuntlife.com has everything you'll need as far as info on setups. Find some local stunters and see what you can learn

 

i run a 60 tooth rear (45 stock) on the gs, and i just bought a 58 tooth (43 stock) for my cbr600. both are strictly stunt bikes. it's possible to ride em on the street, but you shift alot, and interstates SUCK.

with those gears, my bikes will come up in about any gear.

buy (or make, if you can) a good cage and a 12 bar.

i run dirtbike bars too, but alot of people don't like them. i think i get ALOT more control with the wider bars, plus, when they bend (and they will), you can bend them back on the spot usually.

buy alot of used spare levers, footpegs, and footpeg brackets. you're going to need them.

i'll be out alot stunting in lots this summer (can't legally ride on the street for a while), there's a few of us that usually go, you're more than welcome to come with. just don't be "that guy" that brings the wrong kind of attention to us, and all will be good.

wear your gear, and practice practice practice.
