96 fzr
So I found this 96 yamaha FZR600 sitin in this old mans shop that needs some work done to it, he told me if I wanted it I could get it for 400, I just want to know what you think. all it needs to run is a Battery and Fuel cutoff switch. But the body needs new left side fairing and the front top fairing where the lite is, also needs new front forks. Im just lookin for some feed back. Iv never had a bike and I thought it mite be good for me. Bike dont have alot of miles and frame isnt bent.
fairing, forks, paint, insurance, battery, fuel cutoff.. hmmm then you have to find the parts. probably from a dealership if ur lucky.... are you willing to commit that kinda money into it? not to mention someone to do all the work. could get you into the 2,000 range rather easily with all the little bits and peices that might turn up. and for that, you can get one in decent condition already running and ready to go. just my .02
If it's got a clean title and you don't buy it, PM me and I'll buy it. If you're mechanically inclined and aren't concerned about the bike looking perfect you can have that thing on the road for not too much $$. I'd pull the plastics off altogether, throw an aftermarket headlight on it, and pick up some used forks. Of course that's assuming there aren't any hidden issues...that normally come with a bike that's been sitting. For 400 bucks though, unless the motor is toast, I don't see how you can lose.

Be carefull.....................you may *think* all it needs is a battery and fuel switch; but those carbs could be completely gummed up, or some sort of other damage from sitting forever.
A project bike is just that: a project.
yes.. i got a project bike i just finished.. rebuilt carbs, forks, brake system, and replaced everything i didn't like... don't think about a quick fix and on the road anytime soon.. I did all my work over the winter, and needed the entire winter to do it.
