Default You're Favorite Twisties

Where's your favorite twisties around the lynchburg area?

I've got a few I love to haunt during the late nights.

My personal fave is an unlined road off of rte 60 east over in amherst county, it winds its way down to the james river basin for a good 1mile and half flat stretch to cool your brakes and stretch the gear box out, then back into the twisties and it dumps you out on Browns Mill road ( i'm not 100% certain on that but next time i decide to run it i'll get the exact names)

Add your favorites and pass the knowledge around.

how about Beagle Club Rd. Out in Bedford, it is righ tover the Roanoke/Bedford Line...just past William Byrd. It connects Hardy rd. and Rte. 24. Unless you know this road i would not suggest flying down it the first time. It is very curvy and very dangerous to someone who doesnt know it. I know people who have wrecked on this road. But if you know the road it is realy fun, you cant get much over 45-50 in most spots but there is one place you can hit 80 as it goes down a hill then you can slow down coming back up the hill...just gotta watch the turn at the top of the hill.

another is the one right past beagle club not even a half mile down Hardy rd. Im not sure of the name of it, but it connects hardy rd. to Goodview rd. and comes out on Goodview rd. right near the Hop-in. It has 2 nice straits were i have powered out a turn jumped to around 100 and had time to slow down for the next turn. Love that road. Running full out as hard as i can down that road it took me about 20 minutes of VERY HARD driving to go from one end to the other...but it is well worth it.

And last but not least MOUNTAIN PASS Rd. in Botetourt. It is a very long rd. I connect 460, just a few miles past the Walmart, to Rt.11 near Troutville (i think its troutville, might be Buchanan)
but those are my 3 favorites.

mountain pass rd has this one spot near lake forrest, anything of 50mph and you can leave the ground. on a sport bike, if you are giving it any gas at all you will wheelie it. scary the first time you go over! not expecting it and then...oh shit! onetime in highschool i went over the "jump" there and another car was coming the opposite direction. Our mirrors hit eachother, and folded in. teenagers drive like idiots.

221 on Bent mtn late at night (watch for cops at the church right before the top).
Rt 311 through catawba, paint bank, etc all the way to I-64.
Windy gap mtn (dunno how bad the cops are though).
460 west before Narrows where the west bound lanes follow the mtn up above the east bound lanes.
Go to snowshoe wv and about any road you take to get there is a blast with little to no cops (watch out for/expect wild life to be in the road though).

Not to be a wise ass but 20 minutes? Good God just messing with drivability timing/fueling tables it only takes me a little over 5 minutes and thats looking at the laptop 1/2 the time. BTW, you do know that a bedford county cop lives on that rd just before you get to the stop sign at the end? Just be aware that at any time you can meet up with a cop on that road and from what I hear from the locals she (they said it was a she...I dunno) isnt real leniant on traffic violations. Depending on what Im driving I make sure the exh dump is open so she can hear to turbo as I go by or Im twisting the SBC 6800rpm so she can hear the two chamber mufflers as I go by but thats just me being my asshole/cop disliking self. Your results may vary .
