Default Cadillac XLR

Have you guys seen the silver Cadillac XLR running around town? I see it on the way to and from work every once in a while... and last night I was on my way home and ran past Berglund down on the bottom of Williamson Road and they have one sitting on the lot. I finally decided to check it out online and read up a little more about it and my personal interest was lost when I realized I couldn't really afford to buy it right now. MSRP is $77,295 - - or at least that's the STARTING price.

Oh mama..

It's hideous, and beautiful all at the same time. Very simple looking, but it's so short, and sleek, which really makes it look that much more exotic to me. I think the base model makes 330hp and the XLR-V makes like 440hp. It's no C6 Z06 ( ) - - but it's one hell of a Cadillac if you ask me!

I've driven one of these when it was being repaired at the body shop (fender bender sort of deal so it was just swapping a bumper cover). It had push button start and it was pretty quick for the two blocks I drove it.

From what I remember, it's built on a Corvette platform, but has the Cadillac Northstar 4 cam V8 in it. Still ugly and overpriced though.

Have I mentioned how much I hate GM lately? And, this is coming from someone who has never owned a non-GM car until I got my WRX...

I think it is built on the vette platform but its so hidiously fugly Ive never paid enough attention to it and skip over any write ups or comentaries about it.

Youre not alone.... Since gm killed the f body and just about anything theyve built since ~99 looks like it was designed by a blind man on crack I cant stand them. This comes from someone who grew up in a gm family and has been a gm fan for about 30yrs.

"Hello Ford?...yeah, Id like to order a new mustang GT black on black please...yeah, call me when it arrives and I'll come pick it up and expect me to trade in two or three gm trucks while Im there..."

off my soap box and back under my rock

I've never been in or seen a Cadillac that wasn't a pos. Then try working on one. They're just not made with good quality standards and that would be okay if they were cheap, but 60k+ is insane when you consider other luxury cars in that price range. I'm not just a Ford guy, I like a little bit of everything including Corvettes and Vipers.
