Default D16Z6 to 9k

How high will a d16z6 rev before it blows? I rev to 8k right now and the head is good up to 10,000 rpm...

If I upgrade the ignition system, put some larger injectors, a high flow fuel pump, with VAFC2 and tuning will I be able to hit 9k without ripping everything to shreads? I might also need an aftermarket intake manifold to increase the amount of air...

Basically what will I need to do to the bottom end to make it handle 9k without damage?

a good set of rods and pistons and at least a block guard to make sure that the bores stay put and round. id recommend sleeving the block for longevity.
an intake and larger throttle body would be best. what cam/valves /retainers are you running to allow the engine to rev that high and still make power?

crower stage 2, and crower springs/retainer kit. The factory claims power at 10k so I will believe them...

Will that 1k rpm between 8 and 9 actually make such a large difference that I will need to use a block guard, and forged rods/pistons? Also, will the stock rods handle it at all? I am more concerned about oil delivery to the head, even the bottom end. I don't want to scar my rod bearings or my camshaft...

No point going past 8k if your car isn't making power up there and know for sure by some dyno time. If you must rev to 9k get stronger rods like eagle or crowers along with pistons and get the crankshaft lightened and polished then get it all blue printed. The block is fine to 9k and doesn't need sleeves or anything unless you boosting. www.d-series.org is the site for all d series questions and answers.

People keep saying that there is no point in going past 8 because I will stop making power. But 8,000 rpm is not some magic number where horsepower stops. If I upgrade my injectors, my fuel pump, get some MSD, and a VAFC2 I will make power past 8...

But that isnt the issue, I just want to know if anybody has ever done this on a stock bottom end. I am planning on getting eagle rods, block guard, and block posting for the bottom end to strengthen it. But is the oil pump strong enough to supply enough oil?

I said theres no point going past 8 if you're not making power up there but if you are keep going. Do what I said with the bottom end and it will be fine. Maybe upgrade the oil pump to a high flow one. Toda makes some or modify your current one yourself. Guards and posting aren't needed unless you're boosting.
