replacing spark plugs from an SLR mclaren...
Regardless of the hp:cui ratio pent/hemi technology used in production cars is wasted on some turd mopar trucks and SUVs. And no one here has even said exactly what gains a hemi combustion chamber will give you in an apples to apples comparison. I'm sure you could get 1500hp out of a lawnmower engine too but you won't see a John Deere under my hood.

Hmmm i can see your side.
I never said a lawnmower engine made 1600hp. The mopar trucks and SUVs are not the only ones using the design, just because it does not say hemi doesnt mean they dont use the technology. Top fuel uses this and i am pretty sure they arent turds.
Its kind of hard to compare hp gains because i dont know of a motor that will except both types of head designs. But flow test and simple physics show that the combustion is evenly destributed across the combustion chamber more so with hemispherical design than wedge. But both can get the job done in a sense.
Like i said, dont get me wrong, GM is doing a good job with there engines. Does not mean its the best though.

But hey i understand where you are coming from. I am a fan of the Chevy small block and crate motors, because of the ease of it and simplicity.
And people are getting 500whp out of a cam only LSx cars. If you do that math, thats ~570 crank hp, which is 100hp/l. Now that is 100hp/liter with only 2 valves, pushrods, and a radically larger powerband. What is more impressive to you, 500whp or 200whp?
