dsm's are shit boxes when it comes to being reliable, they can be reliable if you know what you are doing, thats all it takes, every car takes money too

ok, what do you dsm owners think about this plan: my plan in getting an eclipse is based on the body alone for the mostpart, i'm not out to make a 300 plus horsepower monster or anything...i already have an integra that i will use as my beater, the dsm would be more of a recreational vehicle, like for weekends or nice days...
if i leave it fairly stock and don't beat the piss out of it when i seldom drive it, it should hold up fine, no?

Yes your car will be fine. Talk to Heat if you want a nice DSM. He knows how to take care of cars.

sk8rmike's had his GSX forever... (its for sale infact). he always took care of it and it never gave him any problems. People say DSM's arent reliable but thats because 99% of them are dogged.

if you plan on keeping it fairly stock, you'll be fine. my car had the original engine/tranny and everything in it when i got it, and it ran great for a while with just fuel pump rewire, 16 psi, and "free mods"...had about 223k miles on it, and i drove it from dam neck in vb to the naval shipyard in portsmouth every weekday, plus countless races on the weekends. only thing's to go in that period were clutch, and an axle(see eclipz's thread in eye candy not too long ago)...it wasnt till i starting doing stuff, and wanted to see how long it would last till it quit, that it started smoking(still ran great though)

but if i were to be buying something relatively new...i'd look into the TC in all honesty

Yeah Chris, get the DSM's. Due to sethmo's testimony, I now think they are some of the most reliable cars on the road.

Fucking moron.
Haha ok...Since I didnt have it for more then a year, I cant say that it is reliable? Id like to see half or your guys cars start up in -10*F weather.

It just depends on previous owners and their modding/maintenance habbits. If the car is treated with propper maintenance it will be a descently reliable car.
