How often does your engine have to be replaced?

They're not considered a 'maintenance' item. I've seen a few replaced here at work but none have cost the customer a penny - and it wasn't just because they were old, they had problems.

I have never seen a batter replaced just because of age. And the batteries should cost closer to $2,500-3,000.

They are waranteed for 8 years/100,000 miles.

Uh huh...you would have to own that Prius for at least 80,000 miles to realize any savings from the $6,000 premium you pay for an underpowered Hybrid motor. From what I recall talking to friend who has one - the battery (failed at 70k miles) was covered by the warranty ~$4k but the labor was not - $2500. Guess I dont see the point of owning one.

You (or your friend) are full of shit. If there is any problem with the battery within 8 years of 100,000 miles, you shouldn't pay a dime. Unless they, for whatever reason, ran it through an extended warranty company.

Question Re: Prius rims

When I had a flat before and put the spare on I didn't notice any indicator abouty the tire pressure. Of course it was during the winter, so I just wanted to hurry up and get the spare on and get going again.I wasn't paying attention to see if the indicator was on or not. So is it certain models or years or all models and years? Mine is an 05

Yeah I love the prius cheap to fill up and don't have to refuel for quite a bit. Wifey normally drives it but I enjoy driving it also its so easy to drive. Plus its quite! I don't always like driving my hatch because the gas milage isnt the best because my engine is pretty nasty that high comp and torque burn my gas up even when I drive slow I still get barely 200 miles on a full tank. And it used to be like 25 or 27 to fill up and now its like 37 to 40 bucks. But that's the price we pay to play I guess.

Does the car have hard or soft valve stems? In 2005 they may not have had TPWS. It you have soft valve stems, you don't have sensors.

Funny, I just walked into parts and priced a main HV battery, with a new case and all, for $3,100.

And you do realize that $2,500 is like 30 hours labor, right? There's no chance that anyone got 30 hours to install an HV battery.

But we used to have a trooper that we traded for the prius. Now that got shitty gas milage.

Well they rolled the quote for battery and *everything else needing to be serviced to work together well* into one. Since no one else wants to work on a Hybrid besides a Toyota dealership that was the price.
